Why VeriCert
We're not a badge platform.
We're not a badge platform.
We're credentialing infrastructure.
Traditional digital-badge platforms — Credly, Accredible, Certifier and the like — paved the way and we respect them. VeriCert came later, built on the newest standard, with Latin America as its starting point. Here are the differences, elegantly and without fine print.
| Capability | Traditional platforms | VeriCert |
|---|---|---|
| Credential standard | Mostly Open Badges 2.0; the industry's 3.0 migration is still underway | Native Open Badges 3.0 on W3C Verifiable Credentials, with a double cryptographic signature (Data Integrity + VC-JWT) verifiable live |
| Issuer identity | Credentials live under the platform's identity | Each institution signs with its own did:web and isolated keys; the issuer is you, not us — with your own domain if you want it |
| Holder wallets | Usually an add-on or extra cost | Included from the Educator plan: Apple Wallet, Google Wallet and the Skills Passport (W3C academic wallet with DIDAuth) |
| Identity credentials (student / employee) | Not their territory — they focus on achievements | Belonging is our second family: student ID or employee badge with signed photo and number, printable CR80 card and mass renewal by cycle |
| Accessibility | Variable compliance, rarely a headline | WCAG 2.1 AA with a public statement, natural-voice narration and a conversational kiosk so a blind person can claim their credential unaided — included, not quoted separately |
| In-person events | List-based issuance, usually after the event | Instant certificates: projected QR, personal codes, live wall with a counter, and voice-accessible claiming at the entrance |
| LMS connection | Solid integrations, often on higher tiers | Official Moodle plugin + LTI 1.3 (Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, Sakai) + REST API and signed webhooks — the student finishes the course and the credential arrives on its own |
| Skills mapping | Badge-centric analytics | Skills Rx: each person's and each group's competency map, built from the public information that credentials declare and sign |
| Design | Proprietary editors | Import your artwork straight from Canva and Figma (badge, diploma and card), with a live preview |
| Built for LATAM | Pricing and support designed in northern dollars | Native Spanish and English, accessible pricing (free / $39 / $199 USD), CFDI for Mexico, Mercado Pago and institutional annual billing |
| Third-party verification | The credential's page | Page with live cryptographic verification + a public verifier, single and batch (great for HR), no account and no cost |
A good-faith comparison with the digital-badge platform category as of publication; every product evolves and features may change. See something inaccurate? Write to hi@vericert.pro and we'll fix it — that's how verification works, after all.
