From zero to your first credential delivered

The whole path: create the account, design a badge, issue it, and see what the person on the other end receives.

What you will end up with

In a few minutes you will have a verifiable credential issued in your institution's name, with its public page, its QR and its signed file. No card, no servers to configure.

If you are evaluating the platform, this is the shortest way to judge it with something real in hand.

1. Create your account and issuer identity

Two things happen when you sign up, and they are the foundation for everything else.

  1. Go to Create account and register your institution under its real name: that name travels inside every credential.
  2. The system automatically generates your issuer identity (a did:web) with two of its own encrypted key pairs.
  3. Confirm your email with the link we send. Without it you can work, but you will not appear as a verified issuer.

Heads up: Your private keys never leave the system and are used only for signing. They are what makes a credential of yours impossible for anyone else to fabricate.

2. Upload your logo and colors

You can skip this and come back later: changing your branding does not affect anything already issued. But doing it now saves you reissuing for cosmetic reasons.

  1. Under Institution, upload your logo as a PNG with a transparent background.
  2. Pick your brand color. It is used on the credential's public page and in the emails.
  3. Write a short description: it appears on your public issuer profile.

3. Design your first badge

The badge is the template: designed once, reused on every issuance. Do not confuse it with the credential, which is the individual delivery to one person.

  1. Go to Badges → Create badge.
  2. Give it a name that makes sense outside your institution. "Data Science Certificate 2026" travels better than "DSC-26".
  3. Describe what someone had to do to earn it. That description is what an employer reads years later.
  4. Upload the image. Square, at least 600×600 px, PNG with transparency.
  5. Add the skills it backs. That is where the Skills Rx and the comparisons come from.

Heads up: If it expires, define that here. A credential with an expiry date is more credible in professional certification than one that lasts forever.

4. Issue it

The name you type is the one that gets signed. Fixing it later means reissuing, not editing: a signed credential is never edited, because touching it would break the signature.

  1. Go to Issue → Achievement credential.
  2. Pick the badge, type the person's full name and email.
  3. Confirm. The credential is signed right then with both signatures and the email goes out.

5. Look at what the other person gets

It is worth seeing with your own eyes before issuing at volume. Open the credential you just issued and review the public page: who issued it, to whom, when, and the verify button.

From there the recipient can save it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, post it to LinkedIn, download the PDF or share the link. All free, forever, with no account.

Heads up: Issue one to yourself first. It is the best way to catch a misspelled name or an image that looks small before sending anything to 200 graduates.
